Fort Point Beer Co.
With the populist goal of creating “good beer for everyone,” Fort Point Beer Co. is an independent beer company who believe the simple things in life can be a whole lot better.
Manual has worked with the brewery since its inception to create a visually rich and delightful brand identity and experience that reflects the unique story of the City by the Bay.
The brewery resides in a historic Presidio building that was formerly used as an Army motor pool. Their iconic location—close to both the Golden Gate Bridge and the Fort Point National Historic Site—provided inspiration for a modular, illustrative brand identity.
A matte finish is applied to the cans to create a smooth feel in-hand that is akin to that of an aluminium Apple product.
The backbone of the illustrative identity is based on the architectural features at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge and Fort Point Historic site. With its iconic visual structure of arches and trusses, this framework acts as an extendable graphic system that supports and incorporates other illustrative elements to tell a broader story of the Bay Area.
Each beer brand within the product portfolio celebrates iconic elements of city landmarks and Bay Area culture to create a brand that locals can relate to and see themselves in.
From the parrots of Telegraph Hill and the Dutch windmills in Golden Gate Park, to the fog horns of the Golden Gate Bridge, each packaging design provides a unique geographical take on the beer name.
The uncompromising graphic identity wraps across every surface of the brand, from boxes, kegs and tap handles to delivery trucks and environments.
For limited edition beer releases we commissioned artists Brendan Monroe and Casey Reas to create custom bottle artworks. For Moon Phase, we printed the bottle with phosphorescent ink.
