Boom is a Colorado-based aerospace company focused on developing the world’s fastest civil aircraft. While supersonic flight has existed for over 50 years, the technology to make it accessible has lagged. Boom’s ultimate goal is to democratize supersonic flight by making it available at business class fares and reducing the travel time for cross country travel (14-hour flights can be completed as quickly as 6-hour flights at Mach 2.2.)
Boom enlisted Manual to advance and elevate their brand identity, tell the story of their first test aircraft the XB-1, and refine the narrative and vision for what will ultimately be their 55-seat commercial passenger jet. We worked closely with the Boom team to name and strategically position their future commercial airliner, Overture, as a benchmark in supersonic business travel with the potential to radically change the way people experience long distance travel.
Our work included brand architecture and identity expressed across airline livery, print collateral, packaging, website, and airshow event materials. The overarching brand personality is one of technical precision, bold simplicity, and elegance.
Boom has drawn preorders and investments worth more than $140M from Japan Airlines and Virgin Group, among other technology investors, and employs engineers and technologists from Boeing, NASA, Lockheed and SpaceX.
