Airbnb Design
Airbnb Design is a cross-disciplinary group of experience and production designers, researchers, technologists, writers and content strategists, graphic designers, filmmakers, producers, interior architects, project managers, photographers and more. Together they work to build new tools and ways to interact with their global community.
We worked closely with the team to codify their values and design guidelines into a tactile modular design book.
The Design Book takes the ubiquitous ring binder format — a classic tried and tested design guidelines format — and elevates the experience through a matte white powder-coated binder mechanism, foil stamped kraft paper, and various paper stocks and sizes throughout.
The artifact is designed to grow and evolve over time, as new chapters are released and existing chapters are built upon. These initial two chapters of content are intended to introduce, inspire, elicit reflection, and provide detailed design guidelines for user interface design.
At the close of 2020, the Airbnb Design Book was distributed to all global (remote) team members with the aim to inspire and reunite the team around their internal values and core mission. We look forward to the growth and evolution of the Design Book as it continues to encapsulate the credo and reach of Airbnb.
