California College of the Arts (CCA) Architecture Division is an internationally recognized leader in architecture and interior design education. Through a focus on advanced digital technologies, material systems, design research, and urban agency, CCA Architecture strives to develop the next generation of designers who will shape the future of built environments.
As a separate division within an art college, CCA Architecture needed to establish an independent identity and strengthen its communication materials without straying too far from the larger narrative of the college.
We developed a new graphic identity and updated program materials to match the program’s international status. At the heart of the identity is a reductive ‘A’ mark that directly references the A-frame architecture that is highly prominent in the college’s spacious atrium. The mark, which can be typed, also subtly references the digital nature of the program through its forward slash / backslash visual language.

The strong graphic system, typography, and color palette are designed to capture the vibrant, flexible, and experimental spirit of the division.
