In Europe, over 60 million people rely on district heating, yet 75% of these systems still run on fossil fuels. In Northern Europe, where winters are long, cold, and dark, renewable energy sources often struggle to keep up, straining the electricity grid and highlighting the need for a stable, complementary energy source.
Steady Energy, a Finland-based company, is redefining urban heating with compact, elegantly simple nuclear heating plants designed to power district heating networks across Northern Europe and beyond. Their innovative approach delivers reliable, scalable, and safe heating solutions that meet growing demand while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
We partnered with Steady Energy to position them as an industry leader and category innovator. Through compelling messaging, dynamic visuals, and a bold yet refined brand identity, we helped amplify their vision—building trust with business and government audiences while reinforcing the dependable warmth that will establish them as a trusted energy brand across Europe.
At the core of Steady Energy’s identity is the steady ‘S’ icon—a symbol of warmth rising from deep underground, delivering consistent, sustainable heat. More than just a logo, the ‘S’ serves as a versatile design element, seamlessly integrating into content to reinforce the brand’s presence and purpose.
An animated explainer video showcases the compact, subterranean scale of Steady Energy’s solution and highlights its positive environmental impacts.
The natural color palette evokes a sense of calm, reliability, sustainability, and warmth. A curved graphic line, derived from the logo, acts as a simple yet effective device for framing, revealing, and separating information—becoming an instantly recognizable brand element.
Steady Energy’s breakthrough technology, the LDR-50, is the world’s simplest nuclear plant. This small modular reactor is designed to efficiently generate heat up to 150°C, making it ideal for district heating, industrial steam production, and desalination projects.
Despite the urgent need for change, many cities still rely on fossil fuels and biomass to meet heating demands—neither of which are ideal. Fossil fuels bring significant emissions, volatile costs, and exposure to geopolitical risks, while biomass causes high biogenic emissions and harms biodiversity. Heating a medium-sized city, for example, requires a football field-sized pile of logs every day. This reliance on outdated heating technology wastes space, resources, and money, hindering progress toward our climate goals.
To highlight the stark contrast, we created a simple animated infographic that showcases the immense scale of the problem alongside the minimal footprint of Steady Energy's solution.
